UPDATE 6/10/16: School Board approves plans
The School Board approved attendance areas for 2017-18, school start and dismissal times and transition options for families in an area with an attendance area change. Information on this webpage now reflects the School Board’s decision on June 9.
Approval of the 2015 referendum gives the district authority to build an elementary in Carver and add classroom space to two elementary schools, among other projects. The new attendance areas will serve a new elementary school and provide better balance of student populations at all schools across the district. In January, the School Board commissioned an Attendance Area Task Force to deliver recommendations on attendance areas and school start times. On March 22, the Attendance Area Task Force delivered a preliminary proposal, followed by an intermediate proposal released on May 2, which responded to public feedback. The public had opportunities for input at two listening sessions conducted in April and May and via emails to the task force and School Board. The board received the final proposal on May 10, heard additional public comment at its May 26 meeting and approved the plan June 9.
